About TriYou

The idea for this site originated last spring while riding in my cousin's car and listening to a CD I had recently borrowed from the library—R.L. Burnside's Burnside on Burnside I believe it was.

In any case, I had a little too much caffeine and my thoughts were fluttering around. I began thinking of how I was originally exposed to R.L.'s music -- it was about ten years ago and my older cousin and his friend brought over the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion album "Orange" and I was instantly enamored. Through the Blues explosion, who are still one of my favorite bands, I was introduced to Burnside's and others' music.

Then I thought if that record had never been brought to me I may have missed out on a plethora of other music I really enjoy, and I wondered what other music is out there that I am completely oblivious to it's existence.

Only relatively recently had I been exposed to who is now one of my favorite authors, Charles Bukowski, and that was mainly due to the Modest Mouse song titled of course, Bukowski. He has been out there since I have been reading and it took me eight years to find his work.

Essentially this type of occurrence is my reason for developing this site that will hopefully create an endless reservoir to draw from for music, books and film. Then this information will be available to anyone who seeks it.

The best starting point I could think of (if it is fairly tacky that's o.k.) is for everyone to list their top ten all time favorite movies, albums and books. In doing so this will give a relative idea of a persons taste and whether what a particular person has to say (about movies, music and books) is of any interest to another frequenting this site.

I know this is a touch limited but it could be a building block for a web-based community of movie, book and music enthusiasts. Hopefully, someone has something to share with you and you have something to share with another. Anyone can join, even those with horrible taste, so feel free to Sign Up and share what you like.

Sincerely,
Rob Mckee
