  A close second to my favorite "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Story of a Ambulance driver injured during WWII, and falls in love with his nurse. Based on Hemingways own experiences in Italy, It is an insight into a complicated man. German bombing of the Italian front is well told. As with all of Hemingways works, You must come to terms with the endings, espeacially this one!
