- (5.0 Out of 10) Pontypool is what one would call both intelligent and artistic, yet indulgent and pompous. Less-is-more is the film’s stylistic quota, and it is well acted by the cast, especially Stephen McHattie. The movie also has an intelligent, fresh, and even a sometimes funny approach, undercut by an aura of tedium. This commentary on language being distorted for illicit purposes is just a bit too remote to scare, and much too restrained to be energetic. After a while Pontypool feels a bit stale, even if part of you can still respect it.
