If you are like me you were probably waiting five years for this. And the wait was definitely worth it. Daniel Day Lewis gives and Earth shattering performance as Daniel Plainview, a well deserved Oscar winning performance. Paul Thomas Anderson turns in a movie that will surely become a classic. He channels Stanley Kubrick. And stakes his place as one the greatest working filmakers out there.

the best movie i saw in 2008. very panoramic camera work and exhaustingly powerful acting as well as wonderful music. the bowling alley scene was quite possibly the best scene i watched in the theater in 10 years. i am in the middle of the book oil! by upton sinclair, the inspiration for the script; and it is very interesting and impressive to see what pta took from that novel and how he translated it into a beautiful film in it's own right.

PTA rules. Another great film full of fascinating characters and their intense interaction amongst one another. DDL is lights out.
