(7.7 Out of 10) The White Stripes second record, De Stijl, is often a solid album but it does not go as far as it could with Jack White’s guitar skill. Most of the songs, although catchy and melodic alike British invasion-style pop, should properly explode or at least sizzle, instead the White’s end the tracks much too soon, and the craftsmanship just seems unfulfilled, even generic. All the songs may be good, but nothing is special on this album, thus making it a just throwback, if still not a particularly confident one.
